You can even add a net, aim, or hoop, as well as plastic figurines resembling spectators and sports players!

No one would mind you asking and if there is, don't leave it on the plate, just say "No, thanks." when someone tries to hand it to you. They won't be offended because, come on, who doesn't want to end up with left over cake? Yum.
Use a floating candle in her favorite drink…

I have been teaching for a few years and have had several children with allergies. You will find that the older they get, the easier it is because they understand thier "condition" better. Most of the parents bring in cupcakes or other foods that they can eat. They will find that once they have the "bad" reaction to one or another, they dont want to eat those foods anyway.
If you are talking about him being more hyper etc as a negative effect, you might want to consider allowing him to have 1 thing during the party. I have one child that is lactose intollerant. She cannot have anything with milk because if she has a certain amount, her body cannot break it down and she gets hives and stomach sick. However, during parties etc, she will have a sliver of cake or a 1/2 a cookie etc… In small monitored amounts, she seems to handle it okay.
I rather tell them that they have to eat the food I provide or a smaller amount than they cannot go to the party.
